Banks Drug was established in 1984 by Jimmy Banks RPh who graduated from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 1964. He was recruited to Ridge Spring along with a doctor and Dorothea Taylor DMD, by then Mayor David Sawyer. His son, Bo Banks RPh (UGA 1988), then bought the store from his father and has been at Banks Drug for over 30 years. Banks Drug LTC is a long term care pharmacy servicing assisted living facilities across the state of South Carolina. Bo’s son-in-law, Jimmy Johnson PharmD (UGA 2017), was hired in 2017 to help at both stores.
